Kiss, Joseph

(1843-1921)
   Hungarian poet. He was born in Mezocsat. After the publication of several volumes of his poetry, he became acknowl-edged as a leading figure in Hungarian literature. In his writings he described social change, moral degeneration and the breakdown of traditional Jewish family life. The theme of anti- Semitism is a prevailing motif throughout his work.
